You probably have heard this term once or twice or constantly. You may wonder what it is. A quick summary is that you are adding third party applications onto the ipod that Apple has not approved. You are taking the firmware on the ipod and modifying it so that it will allow third party applications. I believe that this is unnecessary and can break your ipod. Almost anything you can do with jailbreak, can be done without and i will show you this in a minute. If you are still not convinced, consider this: IT IS ILLEGAL AND VIOLATES APPLE'S POLICY AND TERMS OF USE. If you actually read that stuff it actually states that they are allowed to confiscate the device if it is found with these third party apps by a staff member of Apple. So dont do something stupid like jailbreaking, and then bringing it to a store to have it fixed, becuase you need to buy a new one. The most popular thing that is usually done with this jailbreaking is icon changing. Most people with an Ipod Touch use this to make it look like an iphone. This DOES NOT require jailbreak, and this is proof:

iPod Touch WITHOUT JAILBREAK:

See? Almost identical. This is much better than messing with the firmware isnt it? You may be thinking, "oh, well you cant get it to say AT&T, can you?" No I cannot so far, but who cares. Most people thought that this ipod was an iphone BEFORE it even had apps like phone, ipod, camera, and sms.
